Finance Dashboards

Account Administrator Roles Reference

The Account Administrator Roles Reference dashboard displays the most current role or roles assigned to staff and faculty through the Account Administrator tool in Compass. It can be used as a quick reference to search assignments by various Chartfields, the Employee Role, or by Employee.

SpeedType Reference

This Dashboard allows you to enter a SpeedType and display the corresponding Chartfields or to search for a SpeedType by Chartfields. This is similar to the SpeedType Maintenance page in Compass and can be accessed from any of the menu sections below.

All Funds - Fund Balance Report

An enhanced version of the MGT 4440, the All Funds - Fund Balance Report provides a fund balance across all fund codes by project, academic unit, and department. Unlike the budget position report, this report takes the fiscal year beginning fund balance for a project, the fiscal year to date total revenues, expenses and transfers, and calculates an ending balance as of the specified date.

NEW: The All Funds - Fund Balance Trend has been added to the existing dashboard. This report provides a trend of the fiscal year end fund balance over the life of a project, giving insight into the flow of funds over time.

All Funds - Position Report

Similar to the MGT 4102, the All Funds - Position Report provides net revenues and net expenses by account category, across fund type, including totals for each account category and a calculated percentage shown as the percentage of total revenues or total expenses as applicable.

Business Officer Performance Management

The Business Officer Performance Management Dashboard provides a collection of reports designed to give a business officer indications of performance and the ability to proactively manage finances based on trends and a variety of performance indicators. With an enterprise to individual approach, pages within this dashboard can be run at a high level summary view across the enterprise, while also allowing the ability to drill all the way to line item information.

PI Financial Portal - (formerly the Faculty Financial Summary)

Faculty members have the ability to set the PI Financial Portal dashboard as their home screen in EBI, no navigation required. View more details and resources for faculty members.

Investment Funds Spending & Market Value

The Investment Funds Spending & Market Value Dashboard is intended to provide endowment and related spending project information to the broader finance community. This dashboard will provide users the ability to view endowment and spending project information; drill to journal level detailed information; budget for scholarship spending in an effort to reduce financial aid impact to unrestricted funds; and see details related to restricted fund utilization. This dashboard contains data from Compass and Fund driver to give users a more complete picture of endowment funds in one source.

Effort Salary Cap Report

Provides salary distribution for employees paid from sponsored projects. This report provides an indication that a salary cap exists for an award, as well as the amount of the salary cap, when applicable. Effort Status Report

Provides the ability to view the status (pending, pre-reviewed, certified) of effort certifications by Operating Unit, Department, Award, Project, or Assigned Pre-Reviewer. Benefits of the PI Financial Portal Dashboard include:

  • One source to review balances for entire portfolio, including Sponsored Projects and Non-Sponsored Projects
    • Includes Sponsored Projects where faculty member has been identified as either the Award PI or the Project PI
  • The ability to set the PI Financial Portal as the faculty member's home screen upon logging into EBI
    • No navigation required

The Sponsored Projects and Non-Sponsored Projects that populate the PI Financial Portal dashboard are driven by the roles that have been assigned to that faculty member via the Account Administrator tool. If you are unsure if you have been assigned roles, please check with your department administrator.

Human Resource Dashboards

The Workforce Summary provides insight into the demographics, turnover, performance and other key human resource actions for the Emory University labor force. Graphical and tabular presentations of data are available showing workforce trends and predictors for enhanced decision-making. Email the OIT Data Warehouse / BI Team for access requests.

Student Dashboards

Student data in EBI is a single source of truth for reporting and analytics about the Emory student experience. The implementation is being managed in phases, with the first phase sourced from the original transaction system, OPUS.

Additional systems will be added as the data warehouse evolves. Beginning with student information about degree recipients and enrollment, the data warehouse will encompass information across the student life cycle, including admission, financial aid, and student financials. The implementation of the student data warehouse is being guided by Emory's Institutional Data Management policy and with close collaboration of the data owners. All data are linked to the original source systems and may be summarized or aggregated according to specified business requirements.

The first phase of the student data warehouse includes types of student information in OPUS, the campus student information system. These types include student biographical and demographic information, degrees earned, enrollment, student financials and admission information that will be used to support the primary reporting responsibilities of Institutional Research and the various offices within Enrollment Services. The initial reports for the first phase will include:

  • Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) Reporting
  • Common Dataset
  • Retention and Graduation Reporting

The warehouse also will provide university decision makers with access to institutional data for reliable, accurate, secure, and accessible reports as well as the ability to produce analytics to meet strategic and management needs. During the first phase of the student data warehouse, reports will be available through a limited release.

The Emory Degree Statistics Dashboard contains information about all of the expected and actual degrees conferred and academic plan completions across Emory colleges and schools along with demographic information about the students. It provides a dynamic platform for analysis and reporting of degrees earned, majors and concentrations, as well as select demographic information about the student population.

The Degree Statistics dashboard has a default view that allows you to see the number of Degrees Conferred and the corresponding number of Plans Completed. In addition to the flexibility of performing custom analyses, various pre-built views allow you to explore the data in different ways, including academic career, gender, marital status, ethnicity, CIPS, and age.

The Emory Enrollment Statistics Dashboard provides enrollment counts for all careers across the prompted academic year range. Prompts include the Academic Year, IPEDS Year, or Calendar Year, as well as Career, Plan, and Sub-Plan.

The Emory Student Financial Aid Dashboard provides fincial aid amounts across the selected academic year range for the following categories:

  • Offered
  • Accepted
  • Authorized
  • Disbursed

Data is reflected by year, term, graduate level, career, and financial aid type.

Historical Reporting Systems

Financial reports formerly accessed through nVision reports have now been replaced by reports in EBI. Please refer to the cross reference below to determine which report to run in EBI.

Which report should I run?

nVision

Note:  The data warehouse contains historical data as it exists in Compass:

  • FY08 Summary Data
  • FY09 Monthly Summaries

Detailed historical data can be obtained by using the AMO 90/91 Reports.

More information about Historical Reporting can be found on the Finance Division website.

To see historical data contained on AMO 90/91 reports, click one of the following specific years.  You will be able to see and print AMO 90/91 reports for that year.

Note that this information was produced by Emory's legacy financial accounting system (FAS) and is not available in Compass.  However, access to AMO 90/91 reports requires access to the Compass Report Management System.  After you have access to the Compass Report Management System, contact Anita Paye at apaye@emory.edu to request access to the AMO 90/91 reports.

NOTE:  If you need AMO 90/91 information from a year prior to 2003 or if a specific report is not available, contact the Controller's Office at compass@emory.edu.
